AVIAN FLU
Devon has seen a recent increase in the number of birds, of different breeds, with bird flu, and the current guidance is to not touch dead or visibly sick birds (or allow dogs near them). If you are out and about, any additional support in sharing the message with passers-by and anyone you see going near sick or dead birds, would be much appreciated. You can make a report on the EDDC website here: Report a dead animal – Animal details
Any reports of sick or dead birds are dealt with quickly, and often on the same day. The EDDC team are fully trained and equipped with the correct PPE to deal with suspected cases of bird flu.
A press release on the latest details was sent out last week and can be read here for your information: 7 September 2022 – Bird flu cases in Devon prompt warning – East Devon
We would really appreciate your help in spreading this message and keeping an eye out in your local areas. EDDC are currently reviewing signage in affected areas
